History

The history of Sarawak produces Industries Company (SPIC) as exporter of Sarawak Pepper can be traced back to three generations of business endeavours.

The first generation came during the turn of the 20th century to Sarawak on Borneo Island as immigrants. They came at the invitations of British Colonial ruler then to develop the tropical forest into rubber plantations. Rubber was then greatly in demand for manufacturing of tyres etc for the emerging automobile industries. The second generation went a step further into manufacturing of rubber based products such as rubber boots and shoes. (This was later switched to more plastic resins based shoe products).

On the business foundation of previous two generations, the third generation which started the present company in 1987 expanded further and diversified into processing and packing of Sarawak Black and White Pepper products for export as well as other less known locally grown products such as black and red rice etc.
